Source Material[ community ]  [ publication design ]
2024 – 2025

Source Material (SM) is a student-led publication, supported by the ArtCenter Writing Center. Created by and for students, it brings together art, writing, and design from different disciplines. Each issue is made collaboratively from the initial ideas to the final printed book, and SM also organizes community events such as workshops and release gatherings that bring students together to exchange ideas and creative work.

I value how Source Material creates a space where ideas and creative practices can be shared, especially after the pandemic, when many of us were looking for ways to reconnect and rebuild a sense of community. Beyond the editorial work, it brings students together through printed storytelling, workshops, and release events.

Issue 08: Frames[ concept ]
2024
Inspired by a summer spent in different cities, Issue 08: Frames explores the ways we capture and remember our lived experiences. It gives readers a chance to look back at the moments they’ve recorded and reflect on what those memories reveal about themselves.

[ editorial team ]Nick Rheem,  Ruby Kim, Elliana Lee, Genie Wu, Jamie Kim, Matt Demas, Hui Kwon, Vy Huynh

For this issue, I took part in publication design, production with the local printer, and helped setting up the released party.

Issue 09: Taboo[ concept ]
2025

Issue 09: Taboo explores the unspoken rules that shape what we share and what we hide. It invites reflection on the boundaries of what’s considered acceptable, personal, or private, and creates space for stories that are often left unsaid.

[ editorial team ]Nick Rheem, Matt Demas,  Hui Kwon, Vy Huynh, Garden Choi

In this issue, I worked with the editorial team to shape the concept and design the publication, and also took part in printing, production, and event setup.
