Sound and Science is an exploratory digital archive that visualizes the history of acoustics. It transforms scientific data and rare archival materials into visual narratives, allowing sound to be experienced through form, pattern, and motion rather than text alone.
[ logo animation ]Inspired by the rhythm of sound waves, the logo translates sonic movement into a visual form, shifting between abstraction and language.
[ custom typeface ]The cross at the center of the “S” letterform marks where sound and science intersect. Formed by vertical, horizontal, and diagonal grid lines, it reflects how scientific measurement captures the movement of sound. This structure is then extended across the entire custom alphabet.
[ generative sound wave ]This data-driven generative system visualizes sound waves through radial, linear, and diagonal movements. Each orientation connects to a different scientific category and influences how the waves look and move.
