Grout is a contemporary slab serif designed for editorial and identity use. Its confident, refined letterforms provide clarity, strong presence, and easy readability.
[ concept ]Inspired by the spaces between tiles and the quiet, essential grout that supports without drawing attention, this idea became the foundation of the typeface.
[ details and usage ]Small, intentional bridges between the strokes and stems give the typeface its character, adding a subtle but firm personality to the elegant serif forms.
The typeface functions as a strong display header with its structural identity, while still reading clearly as body copy in editorial layouts.
The process of developing this typeface gave me a clearer understanding of typography. Seeing how small decisions shape tone and meaning showed me how one font can carry different values, and that now guides how I approach other projects, especially brand systems.
